Motsi Mabuse: The Glamorous Judge of Strictly Come Dancing

Meet Motsi Mabuse

Motsi Mabuse took on the role of a judge on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, stepping in for Darcey Bussell. Her journey began as a dancer on the German show Let’s Dance in 2007 before transitioning to a judge and ultimately joining the UK version of the show. Born in Mankwe, South Africa, on April 11, 1981, Motsi started dancing at a young age and developed into a competitive dancer by 11.

Motsi's Path to Strictly

Despite her parents' initial plans for a career in law, Motsi's love for dancing led her to pursue Ballroom and Latin styles. She competed in dance championships globally, including in the UK and Germany, where she later settled. Catching the eye of the producers of Strictly, Motsi made her debut as a judge on the show in 2019 and has remained a key figure since.

Oti Mabuse: The Talented Sister

Motsi's sister, Oti Mabuse, is also a professional dancer who joined Strictly in 2015. Unlike many dancers, Oti did not start her dance journey early on, opting for civil engineering before transitioning to dancing. Known for her standout performances on the show, Oti secured two Glitterball Trophies during her seven-year tenure on Strictly, partnered with Kelvin Fletcher and Bill Bailey.

Motsi's Personal Life

Motsi is married to Ukrainian dancer Evgenij Voznyuk, with whom she shares a daughter. The couple tied the knot in 2017 after winning a German Latin dance contest together. Prior to Evgenij, Motsi was married to dance partner Timo Kulczak, with whom she competed in international dance competitions.
