Musician transforms derelict French chapel into hotel for £100k

From ruins to a functional hotel

Musician Hēran Soun shares his journey of turning a derelict French chapel into a hotel and studio space on a Channel 4 property show. The building, flooded and in disrepair, was transformed into a functional space with a budget of £100k.

Challenges and unexpected discoveries

The renovation journey wasn't easy, with the property facing challenges like burst pipes, collapsing ceilings, and even a surprise infestation of bats. Despite setbacks, Hēran persevered and called on his fans for help through TikTok, resulting in over 150 volunteers from around the world coming together to refurbish the hotel.

A community effort and a creative haven

With the support of his followers, the renovation cost was kept at £100k, and the transformed chapel now serves as a creative space for artists' residencies. Channel 4 documented the transformation process and featured special moments, including a party for French locals hosted by Hēran, showcasing the power of music to bring people together.
