NAGA Muchetty was forced to apologise to an embarrassed BBC colleague after revealing their age on air.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 48, was co-hosting Thursday’s episode of the show with Charlie Stayt, 60.

Beeb viewers will know that each weekday Morning Live broadcasts directly after Charlie and Naga come off air.

And during a link to the show to tease what was to come, Naga left Gaby Roslin visibly embarrassed.

As Gaby and Gethin Jones appeared on screen, Munchetty let slip it was Gaby’s birthday the day before.

“Gaby, happy birthday for yesterday. I spotted that,” said Naga.

A flustered Gaby replied: “That was meant to be a secret. Nobody knows. I didn’t tell anyone.”

Realising the blunder, Naga then told the 59-year-old: “Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.”

Gethin, 45, was left laughing by the exchange and said: “Thanks Naga. See you at 9:15.”

Earlier this week BBC Breakfast viewers had demanded an apology from Naga.

The BBC star was discussing current junior doctor strikes during the breakfast report on Thursday.

Junior doctors began a 5-day strike in protest over pay conditions that is set to end on Tuesday, followed by senior doctors and consultants set to walk out next week for two days.

Following a cutaway video on the current strike, Charlie passed over to Naga, who went into detail about other industries that are striking or set to walk out following a year filled with train driver and teacher strikes.

Naga started: “Well, we are seeing teachers and police officers amongst some of the industries striking, and this is all leading into pressure on the government and now a decision on how much of a pay rise workers in the public sector will receive this year is expected to be made.

“And it could happen as soon as today.”

Viewers of the show were quick to hit out online, pointing out that police officers were not allowed to strike.
