Naked Education viewers break down in tears over brave boy, 9, who had his arms and legs amputated

NAKED Education has certainly raised eyebrows with scenes of complete nudity, but viewers were left in tears after tonight’s episode.

The Channel 4 show, fronted by Anna Richardson, saw nine-year-old Luke speak about what life is like being a quadruple amputee.

Luke, who had both arms and legs removed after contracting deadly Meningococcal Septicaemia, moved audiences with his courage and positive outlook.

Sitting beside his dad, Luke told Anna how he adjusted to life without his limbs.

When he was asked how he felt about losing his arms, he replied: “Very, very, very sad.”

His dad explained how Luke’s arms and legs had gone black after Septicaemia stopped the blood flow.

Doctors were left with no choice but to amputate, otherwise Luke would have died.

Speaking about how he felt when he was told that he had to have surgery, he said: “I was reasonably brave, but I was a bit scared at the same time.

“When they took off my arms, the first thing that I said was ‘goodbye my beautiful arms, you served me well’.”

“I did cry to my arms and then about four days later they took off my legs.”

“What an amazing young man . Did not think I would be crying watching #NakedEducation , at 7 years old he lost 4 limbs to meningitis,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

“the strength of the little boy and the guy who are quadriplegic is truly amazing. As an able bodied man I wish I had half the strength and determination”, a second added.

“Oh Luke you melted my heart! What an inspiration!!” a third chimed, while another said: “

“Watching #NakedEducation Crying like a baby….. (I never cry) Kids are so resilient.”

Luke had shark skin added to his upper arms and legs as the disease had destroyed skin and muscle.

He was very proud and told the camera: “Can you see how they both have lumps on? That’s shark’s skin.”

The former rugby player said that he has gotten used to his new form, and joked that he’s really good at playing hide and seek.

“When it comes to hide and seek, i can fit myself in little crannies that no one else can fit in and normally no one else would really check,” he laughed.

Luke met with Alex, 42, who is also a quadruple amputee after he contracted Strep A in 2013.

He told Luke that he “enjoys being different” and opened up about how he used to drink heavily and hadn’t “achieved anything” in his life.

“If you could give me my arms and legs back tomorrow, I wouldn’t want to take them back.

“Because what i’ve done in the last nine years far outweighs what i did beforehand,” he said.

Alex asked Luke if he gets stared at, and Luke said that it makes him feel uncomfortable.

“Because every single kid comes with a deep stare or asks their mum or dad ‘what’s that’ instead of ‘who’s he?'”
