Overall, 27 per cent said the antics of characters like Ken Barlow, played by Bill Roache, 89, and Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon, 39, were a turn-on.

In all, 47 per cent of TV viewers said their favourite shows had ended up in a romp.

Love Island’s hot bods are the biggest turn- on, with 38 per cent of fans saying they had nookie on the sofa during the ITV2 show.

And a quarter said gyrating on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing’s got them hot to trot.

Even Emmerdale had 23 per cent of fans rolling in the hay.

Cop drama Line of Duty excited only 14 per cent — with the rest too busy trying to follow the plot.

The results are from a BuzzBingo.com survey of 2,000 adults.

Spokesman David Abrams said: “We can see how looking at Love Island could get couples excited, but the effect of Coronation Street and Emmerdale on viewers surprised our researchers.”
