Neighbours boss reveals why soap legend was cut from final episode

DIE hard Neighbours fans were left shocked when one the soap’s legends was cut from the final episode.

The Channel 5 soap came to an end last week after nearly four decades on screen.

But it’s now been revealed why one fan favourite character was left out of the soap’s grand finale.

That’s right we’re taking about Neighbours legend, Bouncer the dog.

The popular pup was first seen on Ramsay Street in 1987, and was an instant hit with viewers.

During Bouncer’s time on Neighbours he lived at three addresses, survived road accidents, being lost, a house fire, and was even poisoned by some mushrooms.

Neighbours fans break down in tears over ‘beautiful’ scene cut from finale

Now showrunner Jason Herbison has explained why he couldn’t add Bouncer to the long list of cameos who appeared in the last ever Neighbours.

Speaking to Digital Spy he said: “Right up until a couple of days before I was still adding and seeing how far I could go. I also wanted a white Labrador to run through the street – but I realised it was too much to ask!”

He added: “It’s a huge testament to the incredible crew that we got everything shot.”

Bouncer didn’t go entirely unmentioned though, as the character Shane Ramsay revealed he had named his car “Bouncer” in tribute to the pet.

A picture of the dog was also shown in a montage of photos at the end of the very last ever episode.

Bouncer featured on the show for six years until 1993 – including in an iconic dream sequence where producers gave a bizarre insight into what they thought the animal would think about.

The scene showed Bouncer imagining he was marrying a fellow dog named Rosie – with the two animals starting a family together.

Bouncer was last seen being driven off to live on a farm back in 1993 – and sadly the dog passed away thirteen weeks after filming his final scenes.

He died aged seven-years-old and passed away due to cancer.

The Neighbours finale was a smash hit in the UK and Australia, with millions tuning in to see the final scenes of the series and cameos from stars including movie star Guy Pearce.

KYLIE SPEAKS OUT

However Kylie Minogue has broken her silence after backlash from fans over her appearance in the Neighbours finale.

Kylie flew from London to her hometown of Melbourne to film scenes with her onscreen husband Jason Donavon for the finale.

Their characters, Scott and Charlene, married on the soap in the 1980s, thrilling fans as millions tuned in to see the pair say “I do”.

“Yep, there were tears! Congratulations to the @neighbours team for the heart-warming and celebratory finale,” Kylie captioned her post.

“You’ll be in my heart always!!!”

Viewers erupted with joy when it was confirmed the pair would return to Ramsay Street one last time to mark the finale.

Some fans, however, were left “deeply disappointed” as they didn’t think Kylie and Jason were on the soap long enough.
