NETFLIX has added Open All Hours to its shopping list after fellow Brit comedy classic Only Fools and Horses became a Christmas hit.

The streaming giant also has sitcom Goodnight Sweetheart on its wishlist.

Netflix is eyeing Open All Hours, starring David Jason, left, and Ronnie Barker, following Only Fools and Horses’ Christmas success

Sir David Jason, 80, starred as Del Boy in Only Fools and played Granville alongside Ronnie Barker’s Arkwright in Open All Hours.

Nicholas Lyndhurst, 59, played Del Boy’s brother Rodney as well as time-travelling Gary Sparrow in Goodnight Sweetheart.

A TV insider said: “The combination of Covid restrictions and the Christmas holidays meant lots of people had plenty of time to binge-watch after getting hooked again.

“It’s also likely that millennials have discovered the delights of some old school laughs.”

Only Fools and Horses — which was first screened in 1981 and last aired by the BBC in 2003 — was one of Netflix’s top 20 shows, beating big movies and internationally- renowned drama hits.

Netflix bought the rights to two series in 2015 and gradually added more. It also has BBC One’s Fawlty Towers and Channel 4’s Black Books.
