Sci-fi and Horror Movie Climbs Netflix Charts
A film described as 'dire' in scathing reviews has surprisingly climbed up the Netflix charts, despite its shocking Rotten Tomatoes score. Released in 2022, the science fiction and horror movie Firestarter has garnered unexpected attention.
Surprising Success Despite Criticism
Initially receiving abysmal reviews from critics and a mere 11% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Firestarter features Zac Efron in a starring role. Lead by Ryan Kiera Armstrong, the film tells the story of a young girl with pyrokinetic abilities who becomes the target of a government agency, with Efron and Sydney Lemmon also in the cast.
Netflix Hit and Box Office Miss
Directed by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman, the movie struggled at the box office, grossing only £11.8 million against a £9.4 million budget. However, it has now captured the attention of Netflix viewers, propelling it into the platform's top five charts as fans flock to watch.
Resident Alien Delights Fans
On a lighter note, fans are raving about the second series of SyFy's Resident Alien, which boasts a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. This comedy, also available on Peacock, follows the story of an alien who crash lands in a small town in Colorado, based on the comic book series of the same name.
