Popular 90s Sitcom Gets a Reboot

Netflix is set to revive the popular 90s sitcom "A Different World" in a new spin-off series, set decades after the original show aired. The streaming giant is working on bringing back the beloved characters from the fictional Hillman College.

Return to Hillman College

The original show, which ran from 1987 to 1993, followed a group of students and friends at the historically black university, Hillman College. It was a spin-off of "The Cosby Show" and tackled important issues such as race, class relations, and equal rights.

New Generation, New Stories

The upcoming spin-off will focus on the youngest daughter of the original main characters, Dwayne and Jasmine, as she navigates her way through Hillman College. While details about the plot are still scarce, viewers can expect the series to address similar social issues as its predecessor.

Original Creative Team Onboard

The sequel will be written by Felicia Pride, known for her work on "Grey's Anatomy" and the "Bel-Air" reboot. Several members of the original show's creative team, including producer Debbie Allen and writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood, will also be involved in the project.

Legal Hurdles Overcome

Development of a continuation for "A Different World" was previously halted due to legal issues surrounding Bill Cosby, the star and creator of "The Cosby Show." However, the upcoming spin-off has now been greenlit and is moving forward.

Casting Details Yet to be Revealed

While no casting announcements have been made, fans are hopeful that original cast members like Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison may make cameo appearances in the new series, adding to the nostalgia factor.
