Netflix’s Army of the Dead left viewers baffled with the ending of film

The long-awaited follows a zombie outbreak occurring in Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries takes on the ultimate risk by breaking into a restricted area to pull off one of the greatest heists ever attempted.

Viewers were left baffled by the ending after almost everyone in the cast is killed, the mission turns into a disaster and the government’s plan to destroy the zombies failed.

One annoyed viewer wrote: “I watched Army of The Dead last night. We enjoyed it but really didn’t care for the ending.”

Another posted: “It’s a nice movie but the ending wasn’t cool enough.”

A third shared: “I’m really not sure what I just watched. It’s like Snyder designed a fairly slick Zombie movie with cool characters – then he just button mashed his way through to a bad ending. And those Zombies…and it’s 148min.”

A fourth agreed: “I really loved it, though the ending seemed a little off.”

Another added: “It was amazing but I was a little disappointed with the ending.”

The film kicks off when former zombie war hero Scott Ward, is hired by a casino boss to break into a zombie-infested quarantine zone within 32 hours to get back $200million that is sitting below the casino strip.

Most of the cast end up dead by the end of the film

They have to outwit and outrun the zombies, which are led by Zeus, a super-strong, intelligent zombie king who apparently has grand plans to create his own army of the dead.

Scott’s estranged daughter Katie also joins the mercenaries, in search for a friend of hers from the “quarantine camps” outside the city wall.

The team manages to get to the safe and the money inside relatively unscathed, but casino owner Tanaka and his head of security Martin has a hidden agenda and wants to use to create a zombie army for the government.

Most of the team are killed off in various gory deaths, including zombie attacks, impalements and explosions.

The mercenaries fail their mission

It ends in a showdown between Scott and Zeus, where Scott finally blows Zeus’s head off, but is bitten by the zombie king.

Scott returns as a zombie but is shot dead by his daughter Katie, viewers were also shocked to discover that mercenary Vanderohe had managed to survive an atomic blast from earlier, but had also been bitten too.

The film also ends on with the other surviving team member about to bring the virus into Mexico City to start the process all over again.

The star-studded cast include former WWE superstar Dave Bautista, 52, and Power star Omari Hardwick, 47.

Zack Snyder directed and co-wrote the film. He is known for directing other successful films including Justice League, Man of Steel, Watchman, and 300.

Dave Bautista was excited at the opportunity to front a film by Snyder, who has directed the likes of Watchmen, Justice League and Man of Steel.

He told Digital Spy: “I got Army of the Dead, which was not only a lead role for me, but also I really wanted to work with Zack Snyder. I’ve been wanting to work with him for years.”
