NICKI Minaj broke her silence after her father Robert Maraj was killed in a hit-an-run crash.
The 38-year-old rapper called it “the most devastating loss of my life.”
Nicki reflected on her father’s passing in a letter to her fans on Friday, writing: “[Though] I can’t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life.
“I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way.”
She continued: “May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed. … It’s been a min since I wrote a letter & I know how much u guys love them. I love you dearly. Miss you so much. Thank you … for everything.”
Nicki’s father tragically died on February 12 after he was hit by a car while walking across the street in the Long Island neighborhood of Mineola.
Charles Polevich, 70, was accused of striking Robert, 64.
Prosecutors alleged that the Long Island driver got out of his vehicle and asked Robert if he was okay, though left the scene without offering help or alerting authorities about the incident, according to Page Six.
Charles has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident causing death, as well as tampering with physical evidence.
Carol is asking for $150 million after the driver’s “cowardly” actions.
In March, attorneys Ben Crump and Paul Napoli announced that Nicki’s mother Carol sued Charles in state Supreme Court in Nassau County.
Crump wrote shared Instagram: “He [Polevich] was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help.”
He continued: “Polevich’s behavior was criminal, cowardly, and immoral. We will hold him responsible for his reckless actions that led to Robert Maraj’s death!”
Meanwhile, the accused killer’s lawyer, Marc Gann, told Law&Crime that an insurance company will handle the civil matter.
According to the outlet, the lawyer said his client had a “tremendous amount of empathy for the family, the loss that they’ve suffered, and expressed condolences.”
The rapper had a rocky past with her father before his sudden death last month.
Despite their rocky history, the rapper was reportedly “heartbroken and in shock” over Robert’s passing.
While exclusively talking to The Celeb Report, Carol revealed how despite subjecting her to years of violence and abuse when her children were little, she and her family had forgiven Robert and were left devastated by his death.
She claimed she visited Robert on Friday before he left the house to go to the store, noting that she was the last person to see him alive.
