NATIONAL Television Award fans were left in hysterics after they spotted Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper star David Neilson dancing to JLS last night.

The actor – who has played the cafe owner on the ITV soap since 1995 – was seen busting some moves to the boy band’s songs.

JLS were one of the many musicians who treated viewers to a live performance and the celebrity audience absolutely loved it.

The group – made up of Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, and JB Gill – performed a mix of their best songs including Beat Again, Eternal Love and Everybody in Love.

Viewers of the prestigious awards flocked to Twitter to share their amusement at the Corrie legend enjoying their dance moves and throwback tunes.

One wrote: “Roy Cropper waving his arms to JLS will now live in my head rent free forever #NTAs.”

Another said: “Ant and Dec, Ricky Gervais and Roy from Corrie waving their hands in the air when JLS sang ‘everybody in love, go put your hands up’ has to be my favourite thing that i’ve seen all week. What a moment. #NTAs.”

JLS shot to fame on the fifth series of The X Factor in 2008 after placing second behind Alexandra Burke in the competition.

They went on to have an extremely successful career, bagging themselves a number of awards including British Breakthrough and British Single at the Brit Awards in 2010.

After a successful five years as a four-piece, in April 2013 they revealed that they were going to part ways, and split officially after the final gig of their Goodbye Tour in December 2013.

To fans delight, earlier this year it was announced that the boys had signed a new record deal with BMG.

They told The Celeb Report back in March that they had already started recording and had hopes of teaming up with Ed Sheeran for a song.

Marvin, Aston, Oritsé and JB will be hitting the road for their greatest hits tour next month.

Coronation Street had a number of huge successes last night including best serial drama.

10-year-old actor Jude Riordan took home the best newcomer award for his role as the adorable Sam Blakeman.

Meanwhile Mollie Gallagher picked up the award for serial drama performance for her portrayal of Nina Lucas – a goth who is viciously attacked for her choice of clothing, resulting in the death of her boyfriend Seb Franklin.
