Olympic Swimmer Rebecca Adlington Announces Pregnancy Following Devastating Miscarriage

A New Addition to the Adlington-Parsons Family

Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington has shared the joyous news that she is expecting her third child. Adlington, who suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage last year, revealed her pregnancy on Instagram with a heartwarming family photo taken during their holiday getaway to Disneyland Paris.

In the photo, Adlington's husband Andrew Parsons and their two children, eight-year-old daughter Summer and two-year-old son Albie, can be seen placing their hands on her growing baby bump. Adlington captioned the photo, "Our own bit of magic. Baby number 3 on the way."

Outpouring of Support

Fans wasted no time in congratulating Adlington and her family on their exciting news. Messages of congratulations flooded in, with one person writing, "Huge congratulations!" Another expressed their excitement, saying, "Exciting timesssss, so happy for you!"

A Difficult Journey

This announcement comes after Adlington opened up about her devastating miscarriage last year. She referred to her husband Andrew as her rock during this challenging time. Adlington learned about the miscarriage at her 12-week scan and faced further complications.

In August 2022, Adlington shared, "On Tuesday, Andy and I went to the hospital for our 12-week scan only to discover we’ve had a miscarriage which resulted in emergency surgery. I managed to leave the hospital Thursday only to be readmitted Friday. After a day of treating sepsis, a kidney infection, and a fever, I’m slowly on the mend. Long way to go but I’m in the right place."

A Love Story

Adlington has been in a relationship with facilities manager Andy since 2018, after meeting on the dating app Bumble. Reflecting on their first meeting, Adlington said, "I had only been using the app for a month and Andy was the first person I went on a date with, so I feel like I hit the jackpot. We chatted for a couple of weeks and the conversation flowed easily before we met at a crazy-golf course in Liverpool. It wasn't awkward at all and we just clicked."

Andy shared his initial skepticism, saying, "At first, I thought Becky's profile was fake, but then I checked she was who she said she was."

The couple tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their son Albie the following year.
