Only Connect viewers spot something very strange as contestants are introduced

ONLY Connect viewers were left questioning one of the contestants on last night’s show and it wasn’t to do with any of the tough questions.

The popular BBC Two programme, hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, is notorious for its difficulty in which players must form connections through a series of challenging clues.

Fans we’re left questioning one contestant – can you see why?

Dennis appeared on the programme without a surname

But fans of the show at home had already raised questions before the contest had even gotten underway.

Amongst the two teams was the Crustaceans, a team named after their love of clawed creatures.

Amongst the three competitors was a man named Dennis.

Whilst not throught provoking at first, Dennis appeared on the show mononymously and did not have a surname, a stark comparison to his fellow quizzing counterparts.

BBC DJ DEAD

Former BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Stuart who launched Only Connect dies aged 73

He unusually appeared using just his first name and it got all the fans of the BBC show at home talking.

One fan questioned on Twitter: “Just Dennis? #onlyconnect”

A second fan poked fun, comparing the hopeful to popstar Cher, writing: “Why has Dennis not got a last name?? You’re not Cher!! #OnlyConnect”

Another said: “The beauty of The Only Connect viewers on twitter is that the biggest talking point is wondering why the bloke on the right only has one name. Bless you all

😀
#onlyconnect”

A fourth wondered: “If you are going to go by a mononym, choose a better one than Dennis #onlyconnect”

A fifth fan claimed to know the contestant and confirmed that to his friends he is simply known just as Dennis.

They added: “Also, having known Dennis for more than a decade now, I can verify he is indeed mononymous. He is just Dennis. Or DENNIS! (or Beardy.) He’s also very good at this. #OnlyConnect.”
