Original Sabrina The Teenage Witch star complains she ‘can’t bear’ Netflix’s ‘upsetting’ finale death twist

ONE of the original stars of hit sitcom, Sabrina The Teenage Witch is not happy two major characters were killed off in the dramatic reboot.

Beth Broderick – who reprised her role as Aunt Zelda – spoke out about the shocking twist in the finale of Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The final ever season of the witchy drama dropped on December 31, and culminated with both Sabrinas being killed off.

Kiernan Shipka played Sabrina Spellman and Sabrina Morningstar who had both died in The Void after living in different realms.

Her death seemed pretty concrete after she was with Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood) in the afterlife.

Broderick appeared in the show’s finale in a twist which saw her trapped on the Sabrina set.

Beth was ‘really sad’ about the shocking death twist in the show’s finale

Even though Sabrina was seen in the after life, Broderick believed there was a chance for her niece to return.

The actress admitted finding the Sabrinas’ death “upsetting” and “hopes” there is a future for the show.

“It’s really kind of… It’s kind of sad. It’s kind of upsetting,” she said of the deaths of the two Sabrinas. “I can’t bear to think of Sabrina – either Sabrina or any Sabrina – as dead. But it’s certainly powerful,” she told Digital Spy.

“And it certainly means that a new iteration of Sabrina can be born in the future, you know?”

She also opened up about having “so much fun” and that it was “really a great joy” to reprise her role.

Broderick returned to the Sabrina set alongside the original Aunt Hilda (Caroline Rhea) and even Sabrina’s talking cat Salem.

Netflix axed the show last year with the show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has breaking fans’ hearts with a video of the Spellman house being knocked down.

Beth said it was a delight to work on the Netflix set, including with the new Aunts played by Miranda Otto (far left) and Lucy Davis (far right)

After Netflix axed the show, he took to Instagram to post a time-lapse video showing the demolition of the main exterior of one of the main sets used for production.

The set represents the outside of the Spellman house and the funeral home inside, which was eulogised by Aguirre-Sacasa.

Back in July, Netflix announced that the series, which began back in 2018, would come to an end with “Part Four,” which premiered in December.
