Iconic piece of cinema history

An original Stormtrooper costume from the 1977 Star Wars film is set to go under the hammer at an auction and is expected to fetch a staggering £1million. This particular body armour was worn by Brit stuntman Reg Harding in the scene where Darth Vader captures Princess Leia's ship, making it a truly iconic piece of cinema history.

Screen-matched and unique

The Stormtrooper costume up for auction has been meticulously "screen-matched" to the scene featuring Alec Guinness's character Obi-Wan Kenobi using Jedi-mind tricks on a group of Sandtroopers. What sets this piece apart is that Harding's name is actually inscribed inside the helmet, adding a unique touch to this sought-after item.

Other Star Wars memorabilia up for grabs

Alongside the Stormtrooper costume, auctioneers will also be selling several other items from the original Star Wars film. This includes a fourth draft script priced at £8,000 and a Stormtrooper e-11 Blaster Rifle valued at £120,000. Notably, the model X-Wing, Luke Skywalker’s famous spaceship, remains the highest priced Star Wars collectible ever sold, commanding over £2.4million.
