OUR Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owens has hit back at trolls after she was accused of “selling out” after posting paid adverts on her social media.
The telly star, 46, ruffled a few feathers after promoting a dog food brand on her Instagram account earlier this month.
Amanda encouraged fans to look into buying their four-legged friend’s some protein strips from Crave in a sponsored advert on her grid – which left many unimpressed.
One angry fan wrote: “Nooo don’t sell out to these companies keep it real!”, while another commented: “Sad to see that you have started to endorse products Amanda.”
In the deleted post their family pooch Midge could be seen enjoying some tasty treats next to Amanda and her son Miles.
But since then the shepherd has clapped back at the comments, explaining that any money she receives goes towards looking after her nine children.
Amanda explained to her followers: “I know a lot of people will think ‘Well, not a lot has changed with your life as a shepherd’ and while it may seem like in the countryside, the pandemic is so very far away but that’s actually not the case.”
She added: “In the first instance, we have diversified as a farm and we are very reliant on tourists.
“You worry about where all this is going.
“Having nine kids at home is not continuative with good sleep patterns, I can tell you.”
Amanda and husband Owen are parents to Raven, 18, Reuben, 17, Annas, six, Clemmy, five, Sydney, eight, Miles, 14, Edith, 11, Violet, nine, and Nancy, three.
The Channel 4 star also explained that their sponsored adverts help her eldest Raven stay financially stable while at university.
She told fans: “Right well it’s time to set the record straight.
“I encourage the children to follow whatever paths they choose in life, to be ambitious & that they should themselves strive to achieve their own personal goals.
“Raven is studying at Biomedical science at university, she works part time in supermarket and does voluntary work in the hospital.
“She does the advertising work, she gets paid.
“Education and indeed life doesn’t come cheap and therefore if a paid advertising opportunity arises and the product is genuinely good then why should you not.”
It comes after Amanda’s neighbours have revealed that Revenseat Farm – where the family live – has become a hotspot for tourists.
Patricia and Ronald Tyler have lived in their home next door to the Owens for over two decades, witnessing the family expand first hand.
The couple told Yorkshire Live: “Amanda has got a huge fan base.
“We get people who come down and if she is closed, they will travel home and come back the next day.”
Amanda and her family have become a huge hit since gracing our sreens in 2018.
However viewers were recently left fuming that the series finale was pulled from the TV schedule AGAIN earlier this week.
Our Yorkshire Farm – which usually airs every Tuesday at 9pm – is yet to show the eighth episode of the latest series.
But it’s not the first time it’s happened as it was supposed to air earlier this month, but a new drama called Anne Boleyn was put in its place.
Our Yorkshire Farm airs on Channel 5.
