Paddy Kirk is struggling with his mental health
He receives a great amount of support from Mandy
But he’s hit with a massive rejection next week
The village vet played by Dominic Brunt has been battling depression ever since he found out his wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had had an affair with the late Al Chapman.
His nearest and dearest have taken it upon themselves to take care of him as much as possible, despite him rejecting them, after Paddy made a plan to take his own life and even hurt Chas.
Next week in the ITV soap, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) steps up as a true friend for Paddy but does she only want friendship from him?
Paddy and Mandy share a romantic past and were close to rekindling their relationship prior to his struggle.
The beautician is supporting Paddy as much as she can but can’t hold in her excitement over some Beauty Awards she’s due to attend.
Mandy gets ready for the big event and helps Paddy prepare to spend some time with his daughter Eve.
Sadly, the young girl refuses to spend her day with him, leaving Paddy heartbroken.
Will Mandy drop everything meaningful to her in an attempt to be present for Paddy?
As mentioned above, Paddy and Mandy almost rekindled their relationship prior to his mental breakdown when they spent the night together.
But due to his struggle, Paddy has often rejected his friends and refused their help, as witnessed by his best pal Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).
His battle prompted men of the eponymous Dales to join forces and open up during an emotional episode at The Woolpack.
But what does the future hold for Paddy?
Speaking about a potential reconciliation between Mandy and Paddy, actress Lisa Riley has left the door wide open.
“When the pandemic hit everybody was watching Paddy and Mandy on the lunchtime and they just loved it”, she told Metro.co.uk.
“That generation weren’t even born. We have this whole generation of teenagers watching the nostalgia show and they loved that relationship that the writers set up all those many, many years ago.”
She added: “Who knows what’s going to happen in the future? All I can say is me and Dom go back to being kids and we adore working together and I think that comes across.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
