PADDY McGuinness has opted for a unique way to share the return of Top Gear – by stripping down for a shower and bringing his fans alone with him.
The cheeky Bolton lad posted a video on Instagram of him scrubbing up his act on Sunday night, talking to fans as he got clean under hot water as he shared a landmark moment of his career.
Cheery Paddy declared he’d ‘completed the weekend hat trick’ with his TV schedule
The star was pretty chuffed with himself after realising he’s on telly across every day of the weekend
Keeping his beloved phone just out of the water’s reach, he announced: “Ey up, shower news… Mad one this, I came on to tell you about brand new Top Gear, it’s starting in about five minutes… and I’ve realised something. I’ve done the hat trick!
“Now, I’ve hosted shows on Christmas Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve on the telly, but I’ve never had the hat-trick. That means I’ve got a show on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night.
“Fridays we’re Question of Sport, Saturday night’s I Can See Your Voice, and Sundays, brand new Top Gear. I’ve been at this job over 20 years and that’s never happened. ”
“Is it a record? I need to know,” the chuffed presenter continued. “Anyhow, I’ve got the hat trick boys, it’s going on the mantelpiece.
“Anyhow, quite proud of that. Brand new Top Gear in Thailand. Get on it!”
A handful of celeb pals were quick to comment about the bizarre video, with The Crown star Jonny Lee Miller adding to Paddy’s list of accomplishments by commenting: “Also one handed showering not easy.”
“Practice, practice, practice,” Paddy responded.
Keith Lemon shared: “I’ve had an hat-trick! But only at Christmas. Salute.”
It seems like his celebration may have been a little premature though, with some viewers tuning into the new series of Top Gear and branding it “unwatchable”.
Paddy, alongside Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris, was seen heading to Thailand and heading across the country in pick-up trucks.
The lads revealed Thailand was obsessed with pick-ups and they wanted to discover for themselves why that was.
Regardless, the hat-trick is still an impressive feat and something to celebrate at a difficult time for the telly presenter.
Paddy and his wife Christine, 34, shocked fans in the summer when they called time on their relationship.
In a joint statement in July, Christine and Paddy said they aimed to be the “best parents they could be”.
They wrote: “We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our life personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.
“A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children.
“We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.”
The pair share three children together, nine-year-old twins Leo and Felicity, and Penelope, six.
