Amy directs and stars in the Netflix film as Lisa, the mother of 16-year-old Vivian.
Lisa sports a number of tattoos and rocker attire, both of which Leslie would probably never do or wear.
Vivian – played by Hadley Robinson – does her best to keep her head down at school and fly under the radar.
However, a new student called Lucy makes her realise the behaviour of some of her peers is unacceptable, and she decides to do something about it.
Taking a leaf out of her mother Lisa’s rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes a zine called Moxie to expose all the wrongdoings that are going on at her school.
Her decision inadvertently sparks a movement, and Vivian is labelled a ‘badass’ – much to Lisa’s delight and pride.
Finding herself at the centre of a revolution, Vivian starts to make new friends and allies across all the ‘cliques’ in school.
The cast also includes Legion’s Lauren Tsai, Scream Queens’ Patrick Schwarzenegger, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists star Sydney Park and Marvel’s Clark Gregg.
Moxie is based on the novel of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu.
This is Amy’s second outing as a director following 2019’s Wine Country, which was also a Netflix film and and starred her longtime collaborator Tina Fey.
Moxie will debut on Netflix on March 3.
