The builder played by Peter Ash slowly spiralled out of control as he was desperate to keep his health ordeal a secret.

But after weeks of running from the truth, Paul finally comes clean to his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and the vicar joins Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) to support him.

One important person around Paul is being kept in the dark about his condition – his twin sister Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

Next week on ITV, Gemma finally ties the knot with her long-term partner, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) during her dream nuptials but Paul has decided to stay away.

As Gemma prepares for the ceremony, Billy tries to convince Paul to attend.

But Paul is finally convinced when he hears from Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) that Gemma has been crying, which prompts him to apologise and all is forgiven.

Paul later battles his symptoms as he walks Gemma down the aisle in a jaw-dropping dress and the congregation stare at them.

Gemma and Chesney exchange their vows to cheers from family and friends and it looks like nothing can ruin their day.

In later scenes, Paul makes a speech but quickly becomes emotional and hurries out, dragging his foot.

Could Gemma be facing heartbreak on her big day?

While this remains to be seen, Paul’s symptoms continue to escalate as the life-shortening illness slowly takes over.

Paul was told he may have less than three years to live and has been made to feel desperate as he tried to provide for his family as much as possible before it was too late.

However, he recently found out that there may be a cure for his MND and he’s set to find out next week if he’s suitable for the treatment.

Could all his problems be resolved?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
