ONE of Paul O’Grady’s final telly jobs left fans in tears as he was appeared on-screen just weeks after his death.

The comic had filmed a Welcome to Liverpool video for the BBC ahead of it hosting Eurovision this weekend.

He was mopping the floor after be told to ‘get the city ready’

During tonight’s first semi-final, Eurovision broke down after spotting Birkenhead-born Paul in the footage.

He was holding his dog while mopping the floor to excitedly welcome Eurovision to the city he loved.

Paul joined many other Liverpudlians who were getting the city ready for the global event.

The BBC explained it was one of the last projects 67-year-old Paul filmed before dying in March.

The broadcaster said: “Paul took part in this film as he wanted to mark his pride in his home region of Liverpool hosting the contest on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine.”

“Just burst into tears at the sight of Paul O’Grady,” said one.

Another added: “Gotta say seeing Paul O’Grady on the #Eurovision2023 opening brought tears to my eyes.”

A viewer said: “Not even 5 mins in and I’m crying. That wee shot of Paul O’Grady in the intro film!!!”

Paul died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia aged 67.

Paul was a much loved comedian and TV personality, who first found fame as Lily Savage.

He was also well known for his talk shows and For The Love Of Dogs, a documentary series where he was able to share his love for canines.

He received an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours in 2008 for services to entertainment.
