THE final installment of the popular BBC gangster drama has finally come to an end.

With more twists and turns than ever, here is the ending explained. Warning contains spoilers.

How did Peaky Blinders end?

Michael is finally released from prison and is seeking revenge out for Tommy’s blood.

However, as he’s about to blow up the Shelby gang leader, Johnny Dogs comes to the rescue and Tommy ends up shooting Michael in the face.

Viewers will also see Arthur avenge the death of Polly by shooting her killer, IRA boss Captain Swing, and Duke Shelby killed Billy Grade.

Peaky Blinders fans shocked as Tommy Shelby brutally murders family member

Near the end of the episode, viewers see Tommy preparing to end his life, after he learnt that he is suffering from a fatal illness.

While standing in a traditional gypsy funeral trailer, he is about to shoot himself, but the ghost of his dead daughter, Ruby appears and tells im that he “must live” and that he isn’t actually ill.

He then finds a newspaper that accounting the wedding of Lady Diana Mitford and Sir Oswald Mosley and sees Dr Holford pictured in attendance.

Tommy quickly realises that his doctor has deceived him and that he was never actually suffering from tuberculoma at all.

The final shot of the episode sees Tommy ridding away from his burning funeral trailer, which was set on fire by Curly, who believed Tommy to be dead.

Will there be another series of Peaky Blinders?

Sadly, the season six finale is your last chance to see Tommy Shelby in action.

However, fans can look forward to the show’s return in the form of a feature film and a potential spin-off series.

Show creator Steven Knight, told Metro.co.uk in February 2021 that the movie will be set during the Second World War.

He said: “I know exactly what’s going to happen, I know what the story is and I’m writing at the moment. 

“It’s a very specific story, that’s based on a true story from the Second World War and will be told in the Peaky way.”

Production for this is scheduled to begin in the coming months, and will see Cillian Murphy and Paul Anderson reprising their roles as Tommy and Arthur Shelby.
