PETER Andre vowed to live after animal rights charity PETA wrote to him following his daughter Princess’s dolphin swim.
In the singer’s latest family video on YouTube, he granted one of Princess’s bucket list wishes by surprising her with the swim in Portugal.
And while the moment was a dream come true for the teen, Peter has since had his eyes opened to the plight of dolphins living in captivity.
In an honest video posted on Instagram, Peter told how he’d received a letter from PETA that had spurred him to edit out the swim.
Peter insisted he had no idea how damaging swim with dolphins programmes could be and explained: “They go on to tell me about the treatment of animals in these enclosures, and reading through I’ve said right, that’s it. I’m going to take the video down, we’re going to re-edit the video, we’re going to put a brand new thumbnail up…
“So anyone can enjoy this video without having to see any dolphins in captivity. What you will see, however, is the dolphins swimming in the wild which is beautiful. So, we live and learn don’t we.”
PETA’s site explains how these dolphins often die far younger than those in the wild and live in misery due to cramped pools.
The organisation thanked Peter for taking action and spreading the message.
They commented: “Once we know better, we can do better.
Thank you for your honesty and your openness to being educated about these facilities.
We’re so grateful to you for helping to spread the word.”
Fans also praised Pete for being open to change and remaining positive.
During the original video, Princess, 13, burst into tears and hugged her dad after he revealed the surprise.
On day five of the trip, Peter picked up the camera to tell his subscribers that he wanted to surprise his “lovely daughter”.
He told the camera: “My lovely daughter Princess has always dreamed of swimming with dolphins and I was supposed to do it for her birthday last year but it didn’t happen because of lockdown and everything.
“So I’ve brought her here today and she has no idea that she is going to meet a dolphin face to face.”
The camera then panned to a dolphin centre before returning to Princess, who can be seen standing in shock.
Covering her hand over her mouth, her dad asked her how long she has wanted to swim with dolphins.
She became emotional and cried while in her dad’s arms.
The rest of the vlog showed Princess and her siblings swimming and petting the dolphins, calling it the “best day ever”.
They stayed in a lavish four bedroom private villa called Villa Aurora that costs £2,520 per week.
It features a large terrace area around the pool with plenty of sun loungers for the big brood.
Pete and his family also made sure to take in their beautiful surroundings and rented out a luxurious super yacht.
