Phil was treated to the full works backstage at This Morning

Phil turns 60 years old on Friday 1st April, on his day off from This Morning.

His colleagues gave him the full works backstage at the ITV show today, lining the corridors with dozens of silver and gold balloons.

The star looked overwhelmed seeing their efforts and his gifts, which included two bottles of Pol Roger Champagne, three packets of Ginger Nuts biscuits, and a pile of wrapped gifts.

One birthday card from someone who knows Phil well had the fun message: “Someone please call 9 wine wine” and another was emblazoned with the saying: “Time doesn’t change you.”

Phillip reportedly earns £600,000 a year for presenting This Morning, the same as his co-host Holly.

He began presenting the show in 2002 alongside Fern Britton, replacing John Leslie.

In 2008 Holly took over from Fern – and the duo Holly and Phil was born.

The presenters are known for their close friendship and often go on holiday together.

They are famous for their giggling outbursts on the show and are often seen in tears.

Phillip tried his hand at theatre and took over the leading role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat from Jason Donovan in the West End in the early 90s.

While appearing in Joseph he was approached to record a cover of Close Every Door to be released as a single.

The single was released in December 1992 on Polydor Records and peaked at number 27 on the UK Singles Chart.

The second musical he performed in was the title role of Doctor Dolittle at the Hammersmith Apollo in London in 1998, before touring the UK
