PIERS Morgan had a strong comeback to hand when Simon Cowell mercilessly mocked him on their day at the races.
The 56-year-old former GMB host joined up with his old Britain’s Got Talent co-star at the Derby.
Writing in his Mail column Piers explained how he turned up to find his old boss Simon in the next-door box with his family.
He told how the 61-year-old TV and music mogul delivered a cutting put-down when a waitress popped in to see him.
The former newspaper editor revealed he introduced them saying: “This is Piers, he used to be on TV.”
He writes: “‘I did yes,’ I confirmed. ‘I was on a show called Britain’s Got Talent when it used to get 20 million viewers.'”
Piers added that Simon replied: “TOUCHE” and chuckled.
The pair were part of the original Britain’s Got Talent line-up when it launched in 2007 alongside Amanda Holden.
The show was an instant hit, pulling in enormous ratings that the show, which despite still being hugely popular, struggles to achieve these days.
Piers quit ITV’s mornings show Good Morning Britain in March on the same day he stormed off its set during an on-air row with Alex Beresford.
He refused to apologise for saying he didn’t believe Meghan Markle’s claims in her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey and stood down instead.
Piers has now explained how he is planning to return to GMB identifying as a woman after it was revealed ITV want an all-female hosting line-up.
