PIERS Morgan has revealed that he is in talks with Simon Cowell for new TV shows after leaving Good Morning Britain – and could move back to Los Angeles.
The 56-year-old star sensationally quit the breakfast show back in March, but he is certainly not worried about landing another job.
In fact, in an exclusive interview with The Celeb Report, the TV favourite admitted that he had been inundated with work offers, teasing that he could reunite with old Britain’s Got Talent pal Simon.
He told us: “I saw Simon Cowell recently, and of course he got me my first big break in America.
“We walked for three hours. I got terrible blisters but I didn’t dare tell him because it felt like he was going to keep going until one of us surrendered.
“We talked about a few opportunities- I would like to work with him again.”
Simon helped catapult Piers to fame in the States after giving him a judging role on America’s Got Talent back in 2006.
Clearly impressed with what he saw, Simon went on to hire Piers for the British version of the talent competition when it launched in 2007.
Piers was replaced by Michael McIntyre in 2011, and eventually Alesha Dixon and David Walliams joined Simon and Amanda Holden to complete the long-standing line-up.
Although Piers has often joked about the snub, and made thinly-veiled digs at Simon in the past the rivalry is all in good jest, and the two men have remained close.
Teasing a return to both Simon and his old stomping ground of Los Angeles came after the outspoken presenter revealed that panicked ITV bosses had approached him to return to Good Morning Britain.
He admitted that “a pretty close third party” had put out the feelers to see if he’d consider a return in the wake of plummeting ratings for the breakfast show.
Piers’ dismissal came after he refused to apologise for comments made about Meghan Markle following her bombshell Oprah interview alongside husband Prince Harry.
He added that he would “seriously consider” returning to the breakfast show – but with one very big condition.
The star shared: “I would seriously consider [going back] if I could rip it all up, and do it my way. If I could produce it as well as present.”
Piers went on to insist that he had “no doubt” he could get revive the failing ratings, adding: “But the doubt is, would would anyone be allowed to do it that way again?
“I was hired to give very strong, honestly held opinions, which I did. But in the end I was asked to apologise for a genuinely held opinion.”
Of course, Piers hasn’t cut off all ties with ITV and tomorrow night [30 May] airs a one hundred special of his hit Life Stories series.
And on Tuesday his much-anticipated grilling of Labour leader Keir Starmer will be screened.
