But the police soon drop a bombshell on her
Alfie Moon (played by Shane Richie) is trying to cheer up Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
Weeks have gone by since The Vic landlady lost her husband Mick Carter.
As BBC One viewers will remember, Mick has been lost at sea since Christmas Day after he tried to save Linda and Janine Butcher from drowning.
In scenes due to air, Alfie gathers Mick’s friends to surprise Linda with a vigil in the bar for Mick.
Sadly, the police interrupt the event with devastating news about Mick Carter.
What will they announce?
Prior to this, Linda accused Alfie of not caring Mick was dead.
It all began when he managed to swipe the keys of the pub from Denise Fox and with a little help from Patrick Trueman.
The pair of men decided to get business started again at The Vic but were caught red-handed by Denise.
Alfie later has an idea and decides to throw a summer party in the pub to banish the January blues and get the tills ringing.
Sharon Watts gets wind that the Vic is open again and makes a call.
Linda bursts into the pub as Alfie begins to think he’s hit the jackpot with things going brilliantly in the bar.
Accused of not caring about Mick or her pain, Alfie decides to host a vigil for the Vic landlord, as mentioned above.
Mick tried to celebrate Christmas with his family when Shirley Carter exposed his then-wife Janine Butcher.
Janine had been scheming behind his back and almost killed Linda in an attempt to keep her away from Mick.
This led to him realising Linda was the one for him but the childhood sweethearts never had the chance to give their marriage another go.
Is Mick alive?
While that remains to be seen, Linda may have to adapt to a whole new chapter without her lost love.
