Popular Netflix thriller returning for second series – as fans breath a sigh of relief after wave of cancellations

NETFLIX has FINALLY announced it is bringing one of its popular shows back for another series after a string of high-profile cancellations.

He said he was thrilled it would be returning

Noah Centineo heads up the cast for the show and confirmed he was ‘thrilled’ that Netflix had opted to give the show another run.

The series follows Noah’s character Owen Hendricks, a young CIA lawyer whose job is on the line on his first week.

Stuck in a world of power politics, Owen finds himself with many obstacles and barriers as he hopes to complete his missions and prove himself to the team.

The last series ended on a cliffhanger which will now be picked up in the second season.

Speaking of Netflix’s renewal, Noah said: “I know I speak for our entire cast and executive team at eOne and Netflix when I say that we are thrilled to be returning to The Recruit for a second season.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what Alexi Hawley has in store for us all.”

Series one arrived on the streamer last month and has so far performed exceptionally well.

It will no doubt be a huge reassurance to Netflix fans who have seen a slew of shows face the axe from the streamer in recent days with bosses at Netflix even having to reassure concerned fans after the multiple axings.

The CEO of Netflix said to Bloomberg:  “We have never cancelled a successful show. A lot of these shows were well-intended but talk to a very small audience on a very big budget.

“The key to it is you have to be able to talk to a small audience on a small budget and a large audience at a large budget. If you do that well, you can do that forever.”

Recent shows to have faced the chop include Neil Patrick Harris’ romantic comedy Uncoupled – which was dumped after one season.

As well as this, Snowpiercer recently found itself culled from the service after airing three seasons.

Two of Netflix’s biggest animated shows also got the chop with bosses pulling the plug on Dead End: Paranormal Park and Inside Job.

The show Titans also faced the boot from the platform after four seasons.

One of Us is Lying has also been axed after one season – though that decision came from Peacock executives in the US, with the show only airing on Netflix internationally.
