But the twelve-year-old is rushed to hospital next week
Money issues have weighed heavy on Stacey Slater’s mind, particularly as her daughter Lily Slater (played by Lillia Turner) is getting ready for motherhood at the young age of twelve.
Coming up on BBC One next week, the Slaters and Brannings are getting ready for a family conference.
Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Martin Fowler (James Bye) both fret about their daughter Lily ahead of the meeting as the young girl admits she isn’t feeling well.
This prompts Martin to ask Walford nurse Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) to examine Lily and she finds the youngster has got high blood pressure.
Later, the midwife signs dismayed Lily off school until she’s given birth.
Martin tries to reassure Lily that things will be ok, but she’s worried about missing out on school work and being bored at home.
But in later scenes, Lily feels increasingly side-lined and irritated when her parents jump in to discuss the primary care for the baby during the family conference.
Jack Branning’s (Scott Maslen) comments don’t help the already tense situation.
But while the Slaters remain concerned for Lily’s well-being, they’ve found support in the form of Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis) who they met after Freddie Slater confronted him about his past behaviour.
Later, at the café, Stacey conspires to get Theo to meet them who offers to tutor Lily for free while she’s off school.
Stacey is thrilled, but Martin isn’t falling for it and questions why Theo is willing to do this.
Martin is adamant there’s more to Theo than meets the eye and he begins to dig for information via Freddie (Bobby Brazier).
He’s deeply concerned when Lily lets slip that Theo bought trainers for her and confronts Stacey, who tells him to back off.
Undeterred, Martin heads to Theo’s old school and learns the reasons he left – what could they be?
Back at the Slater house, Stacey is hosting a tea for Theo when Martin barges in and throws some accusations around.
Yet there’s more worrying news ahead when Stacey discovers later on that Lily has been rushed to hospital.
Both her and Martin make their way there and when the latter sees Theo, he immediately lashes out, accusing him of hurting Lily.
Could he be right?
Is there something wrong with Lily’s baby?
