Weeks before announcing the news, Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton enjoyed a day out at Wimbledon

Chatting about motherhood, Stacey said: “I was on the sofa the other day and I welled up because I thought, what if it has no mates? I mean, it’s not born.

“What if it has no pals? What if it has, you know. What if it gets teased?

“I’m worrying about all of these things.

“Kev’s like, Stace go and have a cup of tea.”

Stacey announced she was pregnant in August with a sweet Instagram post where she cradled her growing bump, captioned: “We are having a baby! So bloody delighted. Kev, you’re magic, I love youuuu.  (Was becoming impossible to hide and if one more person asks me if I’ve had my tits done in LA I’m gonna scream).”

The baby is thought to be due in February.

Stacey continued: “My pal said to me, cos I can’t pretend that I’ve always been kind of massively maternal – I feel so made up and I feel so fortunate.

“But my pal said to me, Stacey, when you get your baby, it’s like your heart has literally left your body and you are holding it and then over the years, it’s just walking around and you’re in a constant state of anxiety and pride.

“And I thought, why am I doing this to myself? But I’m assured it’s worth it. It sounds like a special sort of torture!”

Stacey has continued to work throughout her pregnancy and was chatting to Alex Jones about the launch of her new series for W, Alex Jones: Making Babies.

For the series, The One Show host trained as a fertility assistant at one of the leading clinics in the UK.

It will air on W in January.

Stacey and Kevin first met when they were paired together on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2018.

She split from boyfriend Sam Tucknott in early 2019 and later confirmed that she and Clifton were dating.

Speaking about the public interest in her relationship Stacey has said: “I did [struggle] initially, I did at the start. I didn’t realise there would be such an interest, particularly with who I fancy and who I’m dating. I thought that was dull for everyone else.”

In a later episode of her series, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, she said: “I don’t think I want to get married. I think I’d be more interested in starting a family than getting married.”
