Pregnant Stacey Solomon slammed by viewers for treatment of rabbits on her show Sort Your Life Out

STACEY Solomon is facing backlash over her treatment of rabbits on her BBC show Sort Your Life Out.

The pregnant mum, 33, was behind the “shameful” decision to remove the family’s pets out of the conservatory to an outside hutch.

The move has been slammed as “animal cruelty” by angry viewers – with many bombarding Stacey with complaints on social media.

Some fans even unfollowed the star over the issue – while others demanded Stacey issue an apology.

Meanwhile she’s been backed by the BBC with a spokesman assuring viewers the rabbits had been given a “safe and secure space for them to sleep in at night”.

At the start of the programme, Stacey gushed over the “cute” rabbits before turning to expert organiser Dilly Carter saying: “All I can see in your eyes is ‘can we put them outside?'”

By the end of the show, the rabbits had been removed from the conservatory and had a new home in the garden.

One furious follower told Stacey: “Stacey, we were super disappointed to see the latest episode of your BBC show.

“Please refer to rabbitwelfare.co.uk and educate yourself on rabbit welfare and husbandry.

“Your lack of knowledge is very concerning, especially when being broadcast live on TV.

“Please do the right thing and address this issue, they don’t deserve to live in a hutch!”

Another said: “I’m really angry about those rabbits that you chucked outside into a little hutch on your programme.

“Please have a look at the RWAF website and educate yourself on what rabbits need, that awful little hutch was like a prison cell.

“Please get in touch with the owners of those rabbits again and get them some appropriate housing then give us an update on what you are doing to improve this. Really sad to see you promoting animal cruelty.”

Another fan insisted: “Unfollowing this account since watching your BBC show… was enjoying it until I saw some ideas which you’d clearly used from other accounts on here.. then!

“Well….. there was the poor rabbit episode that was the last straw for me sadly… please do some research when it comes to animals.”

Someone else added: “You need to educate yourself on rabbit welfare ASAP. The treatment of the rabbits on that show was shameful.

“As someone who supposedly loves animals, I hope you make a public apology hope reference your cruel error so people do not follow your guidance.”

In response to the outrage, a BBC spokesman said: “The family’s pet rabbits usually live outside and were only living indoors for a short period of time after being neutered. They are therefore acclimatised to living in the garden.

“The rabbits have full access to a wide, enclosed garden to roam around in, with the hutch being a place to come and go as they please during the day, as well as a safe and secure space for them to sleep in at night.”
