Film maker Tom Jennings claims he has six unheard hours of recordings made by the princess for biographer Andrew Morton in his 1992 book Diana: Her True Story.
He told the Daily Mail: “There are seven hours of tapes that Diana made for Morton. We wound up in our two-hour film only using about one hour of them.
“We’re talking quite a bit about doing something for next year, which is the 25th anniversary of Diana’s passing and also coincidentally it’s the 30th anniversary of Andrew Morton’s book.
“There will be renewed interest, and season five of The Crown will be coming out.”
The first documentary was met with controversy when it was streamed in 2017.
Diana could be heard making haunting revelations – including opening up about her “greatest love” – believed to be her bodyguard.
She also talked candidly about her struggles with an eating disorder and her failed marriage to Prince Charles.
Netflix released it again last year to back up shocking scenes in The Crown.
The Crown will begin filming will begin in August and continue to January next year.
It will cover 1991 to 1997, including the the Queen’s Annus Horribilis and the separation and breakdown of Charles and Diana.
Royal fans have already been left stunned by the show’s portrayal of their marriage – including Charles’ affair with Camilla.
And the family were said to be “furious” over the explosive storylines in the last series.
It also raised questions over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s £75million Netflix deal after they quit as senior royals and moved to the US.
An insider revealed in January the megabucks deal means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no editorial control or input on shows.
This means Harry can’t ask bosses to scrap scenes from The Crown or any show that may be deemed “anti Royal or have negative connotations for their wider family and friends”.
