Confusion is brimming in the Square when residents find out that the iconic local pub will not be opening.
Later on in the BBC soap, news about what happened on Christmas Day leave everybody stunned beyond words.
The events become a topic of massive conversation in Walford but poor Scarlett Moon (played by Tabitha Byron) gets a rough deal when she’s the target of someone’s anger.
While viewers will have to wait Christmas before finding out what’s about leave residents with their jaws dropped, they will have guessed that it’s all about Mick Carter.
Prior to the unanimous shock, Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) is determined to expose Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) for who she really is – even on Christmas morning.
Unfortunately for her, the tough woman still fails to piece the full puzzle together.
Later on, she decides to head to The Vic along with Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in an attempt to make peace with Mick after interfering in his wedding to Janine.
But the latter is rattled when she spots Jada Lennox (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) make her return to the Square.
Determined to keep her away from Linda, she decides to invite Shirley and Linda to Christmas lunch, much to their shock.
The meal doesn’t convince Shirley to drop matters and, while at the table, she still tries to uncover Janine’s lies.
A vicious row ensues although the villain continues to shrug off all of Shirley’s accusations.
But no truth stays hidden too long in Walford – secrets and lies are finally exposed in an explosive Christmas instalment and all hell breaks loose in The Vic.
Mick is floored as he sees his whole world crumbling before him and he’s forced to face a harsh reality.
Will he face Janine’s true nature?
What does it all mean for him and Linda?
One thing is certain, everybody in Albert Square and at home are bound to be left on the edge of their seats as Danny Dyer‘s swan song begins.
