Announcing the shocking news alongside co-host Richard Madeley, the TV host got emotional as she paid a touching tribute to the late 57-year-old as images of the popular crew member played on screen.

Ranvir started: “As you know, the show just isn’t what it is without the talented team who work behind-the-scenes here, who get everything on air for us every morning.

“It is with real sadness in our hearts we have to say we’ve lost one of our beloved colleagues this weekend

“Paul Dorrian, He literally worked day and night to make sure all our technical facilities worked and the show got on the air.”

Their colleague worked behind the scenes of GMB, GMTV and other shows for almost 30 years.

Ranvir described Dorrian’s impact on the iconic morning breakfast show and his colleagues.

“He knew everybody here. He was a kind and loving man, he lifted the spirits of everyone who works here,” she explained.

“He was a really close friend to everyone on the team, so there is a real sadness behind-the-scenes today.”

Ranvir then sent her regards to Dorrian’s partner Mike and his two surviving brothers.

“So young and taken too soon, Paul Dorrian our very loved colleague there,” she said.

“We just wanted to pay tribute to him this morning.”

The programme manager’s cause of death was not revealed.
