STRICTLY’S Rhys Stephenson told his girlfriend “I hope you’re jealous” after sizzling performance with dance partner Nancy Xu.
The TV presenter, 28, performed a passionate Argentine Tango to Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight during this evening’s quarter-final of the BBC show.
The pair wowed the public with their steamy performance and received a standing ovation from the audience.
Judge Anton Du Beke told the telly star he “absolutely nailed it”, while Craig Revel Horwood confessed he “did a fantastic job”.
Backstage Claudia Winkleman asked what Rhys’ girlfriend Beth thought about the routine.
Rhys, who likes to keep his relationship out of the spotlight, said: “Beth said… ‘If I’m not jealous, you’re not doing it right’.”
He then faced the camera to the viewers at home and said: “So Beth, I hope that you’re proud, and furious!”
Claudia joked: “Yeah, livid! Tearing up all the photographs of you both together…”
But viewers of the show were left shocked that Rhys had a girlfriend as she’s never been mentioned.
One wrote on Twitter: “Wait, what? Rhys has a girlfriend? Why has that not come up before?”
Others were left in hysterics over the comment.
A second said: “Not Rhys saying that his girlfriend said if she didn’t feel jealous he hadn’t done the Argentine tango properly so he hoped she was ‘proud and furious’,” with a laughing emoji.
Nancy went on to say that the pair have had the “best week” and enjoyed every second of it.
And the two jumped for joy as they scored an amazing 39 out of 40.
Rhys and Nancy were joined by Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice at the top.
They were closely followed by John Whaite and Johannes Radebe with 32 points.
Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova were scored 31, and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington were bottom of the leaderboard with 30.
