Richard Madeley replaced in Good Morning Britain shake-up after 2,300 Ofcom complaints

Adil Ray takes over as presenter on Thursday's episode

Richard Madeley, the former This Morning anchor, has been replaced in a major shake-up of Good Morning Britain following more than 2,300 complaints to Ofcom. Adil Ray, the presenter of the ITV series, took over Madeley's seat on Thursday's episode alongside Kate Garraway. The change came after a slew of letters were sent to the broadcasting watchdog and fans called for Madeley to be axed following an awkward interview. Instead, viewers were greeted by Ray and Garraway, who announced the tragic news of a mass shooting in Maine, America.

Complaints directed towards Richard Madeley

According to The Celeb Report, thousands of complaints were directed towards Richard Madeley. Earlier this month, Madeley was criticised for asking a question to Layla Moran, a British-Palestinian MP, about her family connections in Gaza. The breakfast show received a total of 2,378 complaints from viewers. Madeley later apologised for his question, stating that his intention was to understand the mood and atmosphere in Gaza, not to cause upset.

Controversial moments

Richard Madeley faced criticism for his questioning of the son of a Hamas kidnapping victim and for his lack of tact in an interview with actor Peter Ash. Fans demanded that he be taken off air and called out his lack of sensitivity. Madeley assured viewers that he will be back on the show on Monday.
