Richard Madeley slams Britney Spears’ conservatorship saying ‘it’s a disgrace’

RICHARD Madeley slammed Britney Spears’ conservatorship today after hearing she broke down in tears in court last night.

The dad-of-two made the remark on Good Morning Britain after the pop star told a court in Los Angeles she wants her father Jamie charged with conservatorship abuse.

Britney, 39, delivered a tearful testimony during the hearing in which she demanded her dad be ousted from his role and the conservatorship to end.

Following her second testimony she won a small legal victory and was told she could appoint her own lawyer Mathew S Rosengart as her new counsel in the case.

Sharing the news with GMB viewers today, Kate Garraway said: “This feels like a win for Britney” as the show’s North American correspondent Noel Phillips said it was “a partial victory but promising milestone”.

While after seeing the emotional moment Britney’s fans cheered outside court, Susanna Reid said: “He needs to do justice for Britney.”

Richard, 65, agreed, adding: “Well it’s outrageous what has happened to her.

“I’m no Britney fan but I’ve been looking at the facts of that story.

“I mean it’s disgraceful the way she has been treated.”

Britney celebrated a judge appointing her lawyer of choice by doing cartwheels.

She celebrated with a joyous post on social media, thanking her army of fans for supporting her.

Alongside a videos of her riding a horse and doing cartwheels, the star said: “Coming along, folks … coming along !!!!! New with real representation today … I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED !!!!

She added the hashtag #FreeBritney.

The #FreeBritney movement has long called for the conservatorship to be terminated.

Spears’s fans kept their usual vigil outside court on Wednesday, chanting their support and criticising her father, Jamie, who oversees her finances.

During the hearing, Spears again expressed her wish for the complex legal arrangement to end and .

And she received high-profile support.

Pop star Ariana Grande commented on her social media post: “YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED AND SUPPORTED.”

She also wrote on her Instagram Story: “FREE BRITNEY.”

Spears’s boyfriend, Sam Asghari, commented: “Internet is about to explode #freebritney.”
