RICHARD Madeley branded US rapper Nicki Minaj an “idiot” after her bizarre spat with Professor Chris Whitty.
Nicki, who has 22million Twitter followers, claimed on the social media site that a Covid vaccine left her cousin’s friend impotent.
When asked about her tweet at a Government press conference, Prof Whitty said she should be “ashamed”.
While Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he wasn’t familiar with her work.
Speaking on today’s GMB, Susanna Reid said: “What Nicki Minaj said about the vaccine is quite a leap, let me tell you.”
She then read out the star’s tweet: “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen.
“His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding.
“So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”
Richard responded: “What an idiot.”
He added: “She has no comprehension that ridiculous tweet has to do real damage.”
Nicki also mocked Boris Johnson and Piers Morgan in a Twitter blast – before labelling the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg a “dumbo” who “can’t read”.
She put The Establishment on blast during a bizarre social media tirade last night, which began after the Chief Medical Officer called her spurious claims about the vaccine “ridiculous” and “strange”.
The rapper told her 22.6m followers that a friend of her cousin’s got the jab and his “testicles became swollen” – so she would wait for more information before getting the vaccine herself.
She did not attend the Met Gala because she’s not yet vaccinated, telling fans: “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met.”
And in a series of tweets, she hit out at the PM, Professor Whitty and even BBC reporter Laura – who she said couldn’t “decipher sarcasm and humour”.
She also implied TV firebrand Piers was being racist after he called her “one of the rudest little madams I’ve ever met”, responding: “Sir, I’ve never met you. I know… we all look alike.”
The deeply weird clash began when Prof Whitty responded to misinformation on the jabs.
He told Brits: “There are a number of myths that fly around, some of which are just clearly ridiculous, and some of which are clearly designed to just scare.
“That happens to be one of them. And it’s untrue.”
He said those who are deliberately “trying to discourage other people from taking a vaccine which could be life-saving” should be “ashamed”.
Meanwhile, at this afternoon’s press conference, the PM said: “I’m not as familiar with the work of Nicki Minaj as I probably should be but I am familiar with Nikki Kanani, superstar GP of Bexley.
“She will tell you that vaccines are wonderful and everybody should get them.
“So I prefer to listen to Nikki Kanani.”
Rapper Nicki then hit back. She initially told followers on social media of Prof Whitty: “I love him even tho I guess this was a diss? The accent ugh! Yassss boo!!!”
And the star then shared a voice recording posted on Twitter with the caption: “Send this to the Prime Minister and let him know they lied on me.
“I forgive him. No one else. Only him.”
In the recording, she said: “Yes, hello Prime Minister, Boris, it’s Nicki Minaj – I was just calling to tell you that you were so amazing on the news this morning.
“And I’m actually British. I was born there. I went to university there. I went to Oxford.
“I went to school with Margaret Thatcher. And she told me so many nice things about you.
“I’d love to send you my portfolio of my work, since you don’t know much about me, I’m a big, big star in the United States.”
Nicki’s video is clearly tongue-in-cheek.
She was born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1982, during Margaret Thatcher’s premiership, and was raised in Queens, New York.
‘DUMBO’
The star then turned on Laura after the journalist retweeted one of Nicki’s posts with the caption: “2021 everyone…”
Nicki said: “Yes 2021 when jacka***s hang on to my every tweet but can’t decipher sarcasm & humour, and can’t read. Go away dumbo.”
The performer attracted criticism after using her platform to share a story about a man who allegedly became impotent after the jab.
There is no evidence to back up any suggestion of a link between impotence and the jab.
