ITV’s RIDLEY, one of the most highly anticipated dramas of the year, has just landed on our screens and fans are talking about one thing – the singing.
The detective drama premiered on ITV on Sunday night with the first of four weekly episodes that are two hours long, and viewers were shocked, to say the least, at one main feature of the show.
The ITV crime drama has everyone talking about one thing, – the singing
The show’s lead star, Adrian Dunbar has previously shown interest in pursuing a career in music
The ITV drama stars, Line Of Duty star, Adrian Dunbar as the lead, as a detective with a tragic history and a murder mystery.
In the latest installment off season 1, Ridley is called in to assist with the case of a young woman’s body found on a moorland.
But there’s something different about this detective; he’s not just any ol’ detective; he’s a singing detective.
In several times in the first episode, Ridley belts out a tune.
The singing element got everyone talking – as audiences were surprised that, Adrian could actually, sing.
Viewers were not impressed with the singing in the show, as some they took to Twitter to complain.
“Not giving this the benefit of the doubt for a third time. I’m done. Load of nonsense,” one fan wrote.
Another said: “Whoever thought a bit of crooning was a good ending needs their f****** head looking at.”
Fans even said the singing element was the same as Jane McDonald’s channel 4 travel series.
One fan wrote: “It’s like watching one of Jane MacDonald’s programmes that you switch off before the end, because you know she’s going to start singing, so cringe.”
“The end of Ridley is like the end of each of those Jane Macdonald Cruise Shows – turn off now,” another viewer echoed.
“It makes my bum cringe,” another quipped.
A fourth wrote: ““Adrian Dunbar turning into Denis Waterman with all that singing. Or is he the Singing Detective without the scoriasis.”
‘It’s a crime drama; but they ran out of story so now we have #AdrianDunbar singing an epilogue,’ one wrote, while another viewer added: ‘Oh God, he’s singing again.’
Another sarcastically tweeted: “If you’ve been affected by any of the singing in tonight’s episode.”
Ridley continues on ITV next Sunday.
