ITV announced in August they would be reviving the fly-on-the-wall programme after it was off air for five years.

Confirming the talks, Kemp said he would “love to present Big Brother”.

“There have been talks. I’ve always been a huge fan so I’d do my best to do it justice,” he told The Mirror.

Big Brother’s original host Davina McCall, who presented the series on Channel 4 between 2000 and 2010, has backed Roman.

He revealed: “Davina and I were talking about it the other day. She said I should do it.”

However, he faces competition from former Love Island contestant Maura Higgins who is also a favourite to host the reboot.

A source told The Celeb Report: “Producers are determined to distance themselves from former Big Brother names but the former favourite, Mo Gilligan, is now busy in the States.

“Now bosses are looking at female stars who have the strength to hold the show together, while also the warmth to gently quiz contestants in the way that Davina McCall and Emma Willis did so well.

“Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that – plus of course looks great on screen.”

Meanwhile, Big Brother’s big return has been pushed back until Autumn 2023 instead of this Spring.

Auditions for the new series are now open as producers look for “nation’s most interesting, funny and entertaining characters from all walks of life”.

Big Brother’s last series was in 2018 after its former broadcaster Channel 5 announced they were ditching the reality format.

Former housemate and Ultimate winner Brian Dowling hosted the show when it moved to Channel 5 in 2011 before Emma Willis took over as presenter in 2013.
