What happened behind the scenes?
Actor Rufus Sewell used a botty double and a huge false bum to play Prince Andrew in the upcoming film Scoop. He needed the prosthetic backside because his own wasn't fat enough for the role.
Transformation into Prince Andrew
Rufus underwent a complete transformation by the creative team, including a fat-suit to replicate the prince's posterior and torso. Hours of make-up and prosthetics were used to add wrinkles and fat to his cheeks, forehead, and even eyelids.
Getting into character
In scenes with Emily Maitlis, played by Gillian Anderson, Rufus had to perfect the distinctive "Windsor clenched jaw" and nail Andrew's voice. He described the prince as having a "lad's lad quality" and being known as "Randy Andy."
Embracing the role
Rufus, known for playing suave characters in various films and TV shows, expressed his excitement at taking on a role that allowed him to fully transform and embrace the character of Prince Andrew.
