TV star backs Ben Shephard for the role
Rylan Clark, the former presenter of This Morning, has revealed why he wouldn't want to return to the show and has also voiced his support for Ben Shephard as a potential replacement.
Clark, who appeared on the ITV programme from 2013 to 2019 and recently made a guest appearance, spoke to The Celeb Report about his time on the show. He said, "It's been lovely to be back, obviously I left like five years ago, so to come back and to see everyone was the highlight for me, to see them all again."
When asked about the rumours surrounding the new presenters of This Morning, Clark praised Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, saying, "Cat is amazing and Ben is amazing... I love them both! I've grown up with the pair of them." He added, "I think they will be amazing if it is them!"
However, Clark admitted that he wouldn't want to present the show himself, jokingly saying, "Are you mad? I like a lay in!"
Clark's comments come after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield stepped down from their roles on This Morning earlier this year. Willoughby and Schofield, who hosted the show together since 2009, were replaced by the Good Morning Britain presenter and Cat Deeley, as reported by The Celeb Report.
During the interview, Clark also provided an update on his mother's health. Linda, 71, suffered a serious fall in Marbella and required surgery after breaking her arm and leg. Clark revealed that his mother is now doing well and is back to her normal routine.
