Sally Nugent pictured without wedding ring as she leaves BBC Breakfast studios after split from husband

SALLY Nugent was all smiles as she was pictured leaving the BBC Breakfast studios without her wedding ring after splitting from her husband.

The broadcaster and journalist, 51, put on a brave face this morning as she co-hosted the flagship programme.

It comes after news emerged on the weekend how Sally had split with her businessman husband Gavin Hawthorn.

She was joined on the red sofa alongside her co-host Jon Kay, 53.

While bringing Beeb viewers the latest news from around the country, she was inundated with support from fans.

Pictured leaving the BBC Salford studios after coming off air, Sally was all smiles.

The star was chirpy as she chatted on the phone while sporting a more casual look compared to her usual dresses on screen.

As she held her phone to her face Sally revealed her bare hand without her wedding ring.

She wore black leggings and a grey jumper under a navy jacket along with white runners.

Sally was walking from the studio entrance to a chauffeured car waiting to drive her way.

Her estranged husband Gavin is believed to have moved out of the £1.4million Cheshire home he shares with Sally.

Speaking about their split, a friend of the couple told The Mail: “It’s very sad but they are no longer together.

“I think they tried to tough it out for quite a while as they didn’t want to split up if they could possibly help it for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn’t make a go of it.

“They’ve both been very guarded about the reasons behind their growing apart but it’s been plain for a while that they had been and now it’s obvious that they haven’t been able to resolve that despite clearly trying for some time.”

Reports suggest the pair’s careers made have played a part in the demise of their relationship.
