John Manson from Glasgow appeared on the ITV primetime hit

Earlier we told how the Geordie duo were spotted looking tense during a rehearsal for the primetime hit.

The best pals were seen looking at loggerheads as they stood on a stage, covered in red and blue banners in new photos.

However, the cheeky chaps were all smiles as the weekend staple was beamed onto millions of TV screens live from the sun-kissed location.

And joining the much-loved hosts was train manager John Manson from Glasgow, as he participated in the show’s hugely-popular Win the Ads segment.

This week the Scots lad answered a series of questions on subjects including food and showbiz.

In a bid to win a string of prizes including a car, a luxury holiday and a bedroom makeover.

The Scots player correctly answered three questions and bagged himself £20,000 cash, a Caribbean holiday, balloons and a packet of chewing gum.

But the confident contestant decided to gamble, as he tried to scoop the remaining goodies.

He was asked: “It’s been widely reported this week that a hugely-successful animated film franchise is set for a fifth instalment featuring the original voice cast.

“Which one, Shrek or Madagascar?”

After a brief hesitation, the player incorrectly answered Madagascar.

Ant and Dec’s faces dropped, as they delivered the bombshell news.

Ant said: “It was Shrek, unfortunately, you lose those prizes. We’re gutted.

“We wanted to end on a high, we wanted to give you all of that. Thank you for playing.

Fans flocked to social media, as one wrote: “Me screaming “SHREK!!!!!!!” At the TV, like he can hear me.”

Another said: “Who else was shouting “Shrek!” at their TV?”

While a third added: “Unbelievable.”

And it wasn’t the only blunder on tonight’s show after Ant sent the Saturday Night Takeaway grand finale into chaos.
