A sci-fi drama, Orphan Black: Echoes, has been canceled after airing just one series, receiving mixed reviews from its audience. The show, set in the same universe as the smash hit Orphan Black, failed to attract the same level of fandom and will not be returning for another season.
Viewers Divided
While Orphan Black: Echoes was set in the same universe as the popular Orphan Black series, viewers' opinions of the show have been divided. Unlike its parent series, Echoes didn't gather the same fervent following and faced criticism from both critics and fans alike.
Plot and Characters
The show followed Dr. Kira Manning, played by Keeley Hawes, the adult granddaughter of Orphan Black protagonist Sarah Manning, portrayed by Tatiana Maslany. Alongside her wife, Dr. Eleanor Miller (Rya Kihlstedt), they worked together to help an amnesiac woman played by Krysten Ritter. The main cast also included Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, and James Hiroyuki Liao.
Viewer Reactions
Viewers took to platforms like Reddit to share their reactions to the show. Some found the plot and concept lacking, with one viewer mentioning that it didn't feel very Orphan Black to them. Others, however, had a more positive view, stating that the show improved from episode 5 onwards.
All ten episodes of Orphan Black: Echoes are available to stream on ITVX in the UK, while the show aired on AMC, AMC+, and BBC America in the US.
