THIS Christmas is bittersweet for Selling Sunset’s Maya Vander and her family, as they continue to put their lives back together after suffering a stillbirth.
The reality star shared a smiling family photo on Instagram, but admitted after the devastating loss, there is little joy this holiday season.
“This is not the Christmas Eve I had envisioned,” she shared on Instagram, next to a photo of her and her husband, David Miller, holding one-year-old daughter Ella Madison and two-year-old son Aiden. “This was the day Mason would have come home with us.
“It’s been two weeks since I lost my child. I am smiling in the photo but I got to tell you, it’s been difficult.
Maya, 39, admits she’s never experienced a grief like this.
“Our family is taking it one day at a time and we are just trying our best for the kids. I am extremely grateful for all the kindness and messages I have been getting. We are thankful for our children and know that it will be ok.
“I want to wish all of you happy holiday season! I hope and have faith that after the storm comes the rainbow.”
Friends and family from Selling Sunset and beyond all offered their love and words of encouragement in the comments section.
Chrishell Stause shared: “You are so loved. Praying for so many rainbows for you and your family.”
Davina Potratz added: Love you so much!! Happy Holidays.
Vanessa Villela posted: “Love you my beautiful Mayan. Sending you a big hug!!!!
HEARTBREAKING LOSS
Earlier this month, Maya revealed her heartbreaking loss on Instagram, sharing the tragic news in a post writing: “Yesterday was the hardest day of my life. I had a still birth at 38 weeks. I always heard of it but never imagined I’ll be part of the statistics.
“Instead of delivering a baby, I get to go home with a memory box… I do not wish this on anyone.
“What was a regular weekly checkup turned into a nightmare that I never imagine will happen to me.
“Given I share my pregnancies in the show I knew I’ll have to post about this and avoid the “ when is your due date “ question.
“You will always be in our heart baby Mason
”
Alongside the post, the Netflix star included a photo of a memory box to remember her late baby boy.
FAMILY LOVE
The TV star is also mom to one-year-old daughter Ella Madison and two-year-old son Aiden, who was featured on season two’s premiere episode.
Maya had mentioned in the series that she was struggling to get pregnant and had had previous miscarriages.
She became pregnant in season 1 and gave birth to a baby boy, Aiden, in February of 2019.
Maya introduced her son on season 2’s premiere episode.
Then, in May 2020, she announced that she had given birth to her second child, a baby girl named Elle Madison.
“So besides Selling Sunset season 2, which aired yesterday, I have other exciting news,” she said in a video posted to her Instagram feed.
“Not season 3, that’s also exciting. I’m happy to show you my baby girl, Elle.”
“She was born [Thursday]. Forty-eight hours [ago],” Maya said.
“We are back home now, and Aiden is excited, kinda,” she continued.
“Unlike Aiden, Elle was born very quickly. Ten minutes, I was pushing, and she was out.”
