Simon Cowell in race to find new boy band as BBC launch hunt for K-Pop stars

Simon Cowell faces off with colleagues in search for new boy band

Simon Cowell is in a fierce competition with his own colleagues in the quest to discover the next big boy band. While the music mogul launched a search for the next One Direction earlier this year as part of his new Netflix series, his head of global entertainment Nigel Hall and former talent manager Russ Lindsay have teamed up for a BBC show called Made In Korea: The K-Pop Experience.

Competition heats up in the search for the next big thing

The BBC show follows the journey of five young hopefuls who are flown out to Korea to form a K-Pop fusion band. The group, named Dear Alice, is comprised of Reese Carter, Blaise Noon, Dexter Greenwood, James Sharp, and Olly Quinn, and undergo three months of intense training at K-Pop giant SM Entertainment.

Healthy rivalry brewing between colleagues

Nigel and Russ are gearing up for the competition with Simon Cowell, with Nigel expressing his confidence in the new boy band. The duo aims to bring a fresh group to the music industry, with Russ highlighting the importance of finding the next big sensation after One Direction. The BBC show is set to air this month, while Simon's series, tentatively titled Midas Touch, is still in production.
