New face in Albert Square
A new face is set to grace the screens of EastEnders as actress Bharti Patel joins the cast. Soap fans may recognize her from her role as Ruhma Carter in the daytime medical drama Doctors.

Bharti has been portraying Ruhma in Doctors for nearly a decade and has now signed up for a stint in EastEnders. Her character in Doctors, Ruhma, has tackled various storylines including living with partial deafness and navigating relationships.
Meet Maya Houssain
In EastEnders, Bharti will be playing the guest character Maya Houssain, an unexpected new friend of Harvey Monroe. Harvey, played by Ross Boatman, is feeling lonely after the departure of his friends and finds solace in his bond with Maya.

Remaining member of the Monroe family
With the exits of Dana and Aaron Monroe, Harvey is now the sole member of his family left in Albert Square. Actor Ross Boatman joined the cast in 2021 as the father of Dana Monroe and has been a prominent character on the show.
