Stunt Doubles and Clever Camera Tricks
During the intense glass bridge challenge on Squid Game: The Challenge, the show's bosses have confirmed that no players actually fell from the bridge. Instead, stunt doubles were used, and clever camera tricks made it appear as if players were falling. Giant airbags and other safety precautions were in place to ensure the well-being of the contestants.
Priority on Safety
Executive producer John Hay emphasized that the safety of the players was paramount. He stated that professional stunt people performed the falls, and a large airbag was positioned beneath the bridge. The order of the glass panels, determining which were safe and which led to elimination, was predetermined. The reactions of the players and their peers were genuine, while the falls themselves were done by stunt doubles.
Creating the Illusion
The producers revealed that the way the falls were filmed made them appear further than they actually were. The height of the bridge, however, was as high as it looked. The goal was to maintain the sensation of being high up while ensuring a safe distance for the falls. The gameplay and reactions remained authentic throughout the challenge.
Cooperation and Teamwork
As the players navigated the glass bridge, they surprised the producers by implementing a system where each contestant took turns going ahead of the person in front. This approach ensured that no one had to go alone and promoted fairness. The producers praised the group's quick thinking and noted how the game, which initially seemed to pit everyone against each other, ultimately fostered cooperation, self-sacrifice, and teamwork.
Series Finale Coming Soon
Squid Game: The Challenge currently has nine episodes available to stream on Netflix, with the series finale set to premiere on 6 December.
